不重要的后记：居伊·德波在1960年代发表的《景观社会》提出 “在后工业时代中，整个社会生活显示为一种巨大的景观的积聚。直接经历过的一切都已经离我们而去，进入了一种表现。“ 60年后的今天，单纯的商品消费已经过时，景观化的生活充斥着现实和虚拟世界，网红打卡地，自然奇观、软文广告、打卡攻略…… 人们乐此不疲地制造和奔赴一个个新的热点。在大众媒体的发酵下，环境的观赏性甚至颠覆了其本身的功能。
因此，当今天再次提起自然，这个最为原始的环境，人们可能联想到的已经不是实实在在的自然，而是通过传播技术手段加工的符号化、图像化的呈现。相比于真正的自然它更可能是毫无瑕疵的，毫不费力的、精美的。荧光海、粉红沙滩、玻璃栈桥、为了复制商业成功的典例，人们不断对自然进行着包装和再加工。同时，美好的景观假象也催生着观众不断靠近景观中心和追求新奇的欲望。
《牛尔代夫》试图用戏谑的方式展现亡羊补牢式地对自然的改造过程，并创造一个可供人们传播的、吸睛的奇观。
